Perfect! Absolutely perfect. We booked a classic room and had 2 ensuite rooms that were very clean and quiet. The staff is very helpfull. The food is excellent (especially for British standards) and the breakfast-buffet was very good (french breads etc). The grounds are superb. We made no use of the spa, just because we didn't feel like it. They offered us to check out later, but we (unfortunately) had to go home. This is a very good hotel.

The room was a little bit dark because of a gardenwall and some bushes in the garden. But why spend the day in a hotelroom?

The room was very well equiped and the evening meal was very good

Buffet breakfast was only warm at best

Excellent spa. Good rooms. Surroundings good A good restaurant but would have liked a more 'simple' choice Friendly and very helpful staff Different to the 'normal' big business hotel

Simple food in restaurant - when on business you can get tired of eating rich food

Booked Superior room - no drawers in room. Had to ask for 3rd&4thpillows and extra clothes hangers. Very disappointing breakfast which was totally self-serve apart from coffee/tea. Only unappetising scrambled eggs, no other egg choice. No lounge area in which to read or relax. We were there for a nearby wedding and feel we made the wrong, albeit most expensive, choice of hotels on offer - thought we'd treat ourselves!!!

I enjoyed the setting and facilities the Spa has to offer, their is wild life everywhere. And the food is excellent.

Drink is very expensive for example a cup of tea cost £2

The quietness of the hotel allowed for a very comfortable stay.

Two things: Firstly the shower hold was too small to hold the shower head so it hung on the wall, hence I had to have my showers with one hand holding the shower head at a height above me. Secondly, as I am around this area for business, I have to leave for work very early in the mornings, ie before 6:30......so having a check out time of 7am onwards is highly inconvenient for me and will be the discouraging factor in booking this hotel in future.

The setting was lovely, a good place to relax. The restaurant was great too, with lovely views out to the countryside.

Impressed with the Hotel and staff, but not impressed with the spa and their young inexperienced staff

We found the staff very friendly and aproachable the level of service was excellant nothing was too much trouble. The location was lovely the surrounding countryside beautiful. Haslemere is just down the road and has good places to eat and drink. The food at the hotel is superb also. Take advantage of the spa facilities heated pool and fully equipt gym and no egos. Overall a fantastic choice!

    No issues.

    Surroundings,

Two single beds to make a double. Waitress who had bad cold should not have been allowed to come to work and cough around guests.

Very pretty location, service excellent, lovely surroundings

From the moment you arrive, this place feels like a touch of luxury. Arranged much like a small village around a green and pond, on a gentle hill side, this hotel oozes 'rural Surrey' in its look and feel. I had the impression that one day I'd like to bring the family to stay in one of the Garden rooms, but for one night I was a lone business traveller. The staff did not disappoint the first impressions; if you enjoy highly articulate and polite service from staff that always seem to be masters of their own task, you will enjoy the staff here. Even if you find that sort of service a little haughty, you should not have much to fear here. That said, I'm not sure I'd want to upset the Head Waiter! The restaurant is a destination in itself and feels like a luxurious night out , right in the hotel. This is where I found it necessary to test the ‘polite’ versus ‘in control’ balance of the Head Waiter as I had booked in at short notice, having come straight from a building site in high- visibility (but clean) work trousers. Not wanting to miss out, I enquired as to the appropriateness of me dining in them, as I had not brought a change, not expecting a stay-over. Said Head-Waiter, chose his words carefully, admitting that he would admit me, but his face said he wished he didn’t have to! I didn’t want to embarrass anyone, so I found a 24 Hour supermarket with trousers!

Given the opulent luxury of the setting, staff and the buildings of this hotel, it is hard to imagine why the price was so reasonable and the attendance relatively low. Perhaps there are one or two things that block the path to it becoming as high an earner as it might be. Or perhaps I came on an unusual day. The rooms were very noisy, making next door’s tv easily audible and movement on the stairs outside highly apparent, but it can’t just be that can it? I will say this, that, as promising a venue and luxurious an experience the restaurant was, the food turned out to be relatively ordinary. Not at all poor, you understand, and far far better than the mass of inevitably reheated options on offer in so many business hotels, but just not as fine as it was set up to be. Every meal ticked the boxes it was contractually obliged to, and were laid out with a little style, but just didn’t taste as though they had used fine quality ingredients. Ok, feta salad wouldn’t usually be expected to surprise you, but it can in fact be the simple dishes where the best Chef’s show their innate love of good food and not just their technical ability to assemble ingredients. The lamb was cooked medium rare as requested, but it still didn’t taste of anything but supermarket meat. Most disappointing was the Pain Perdue, which was stodgy, but not in a homely way that good pudding is: a heavy lump of eggy bread with a few lumps of fruit compote does not a delicate but glorious finish to a meal make!

The reception staff were really friendly and very helpful. The staff in the restaurant were so lovely and again exceptionally helpful and polite.

I dont think the spa was up to scratch. The facilities could have been better presented and there needed to be more staff available to help.
